No 2. līdz 5. oktobrim Sidnejā pulcēsies 11 latviešu diasporas teātri no dažnedažādām pasaules malām, un viens Latvijas amatieru teātris uz festivālu PLATS brīvsolis.
From 2 to 5 October, Sydney will welcome 11 Latvian diaspora theatre groups from all corners of the world, along with one amateur theatre from Latvia, for the festival PLATS brīvsolis.

2026. gada oktobra teatrāli un neparasti notikumi: SLT jubileja, PLATS Brīvsolis, vēlēšanas un Baltiešu tirdziņš
Vienmēr ir forši, kad zini, ka kaut kas interesants, neparasts, aizraujošs vai vienkārši ārpus ikdienas stāv Tev priekšā. Šoreiz tieši tādu sajūtu sniegs oktobra garā nedēļas nogale (2.–5.10.2026). Tajā nedēļas nogalē satiksies vairāki nozīmīgi notikumi, kas lieliski atbilst visiem šiem raksturojumiem. Latvijas Saeimas vēlēšanas, Baltiešu tirdziņš, Sidnejas Latviešu Teātris (SLT) svinēs savu 75 gadu jubileju (Patiesībā SLT ir garāka vēsture nekā daudziem teātriem Latvijā!), kā arī PLATS (Pasaules Latviešu Amatieru Teātru Savienība) ikgadējais teātra festivāls — šoreiz ar nosaukumu PLATS Brīvsolis.
Šoreiz vairāk par festivālu. Tajā piedalīsies vienpadsmit teātra trupas (starp tiem arī SLT), un nedēļas nogales laikā būs iespēja noskatīties kopumā 14 izrādes.
Sestdienā notiks arī Raibais! — vēlā pēcpusdienā paredzēts skeču un dziesmu vakars kabarē stilā. Šajā uzvedumā piedalīsies visi nedēļas nogales teātri, un tas būs viens no centrālajiem notikumiem SLT 75 gadu jubilejas svinībās.
Tiem, kuriem teātris ir īpaši tuvs, būs iespēja iegādāties abonementu biļeti visām izrādēm vai arī biļetes uz vienas dienas programmu.
Tomēr, kā gan vienā nedēļas nogalē iespējams ietilpināt 14 izrādes? Nu, viss sākas jau piektdienas vakarā ar festivāla atklāšanu un divām izrādēm. Taču varam jūs mierināt — programma ir daudzveidīga, sākot no īsām viencēlienu lugām līdz pat garākiem uzvedumiem.
Un bez izrādēm būs jau citas iespējas arī tuvāk iepazīties ar teātra mākslu, parunāt ar mūsu ārzemju viesiem, baudīt pusdienas, vakariņas un kafijas pauzes, piedalīties apkūlību sarunās (vai tik paklausīties) katru dienu pēc izrādēm omulīgā atmosferā…un piedzīvot teātra izsoli – īpatneja un prieka pilna aktivitāte, kas notiek katrā PLATS teātra festivālā!

It’s always exciting when you know that something interesting, unusual, thrilling, or simply out of the ordinary lies ahead. This time, Sydney’s October long weekend (2–5 October 2026) will offer exactly that feeling. Several significant events will come together over the weekend, each fitting those descriptions perfectly: the Latvian parliamentary elections, the Baltic Market, the Sydney Latvian Theatre (SLT) celebrating its 75th anniversary (in fact, SLT has a longer history than many theatres in Latvia!), as well as the annual theatre festival of PLATS (the World Association of Latvian Amateur Theatres), this year entitled PLATS Brīvsolis.
This time, however, we’ll focus on the festival. Eleven theatre companies will take part (including SLT), and over the course of the weekend audiences will have the opportunity to see a total of 14 performances.
Saturday will also feature Raibais! — a cabaret-style evening of sketches and songs planned for the late afternoon. All of the weekend’s theatre groups will take part, and it will be one of the central events of SLT’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
For those who are especially passionate about theatre, there will be an opportunity to purchase a festival pass covering all performances, or tickets for a single day’s programme.
But how can 14 performances possibly fit into one weekend? Well, it all begins on Friday evening with the festival opening and two performances. But we can reassure you — the programme is wonderfully varied, ranging from short one-act plays to longer productions.
And beyond the performances, there will be plenty of other opportunities to become more closely acquainted with the art of theatre, chat with our overseas guests, enjoy lunches, dinners and coffee breaks, take part in post-performance discussions (or simply listen) each day in a warm and relaxed atmosphere… and experience the theatre auction — a quirky and joyful activity that takes place at every PLATS theatre festival!
