Par Birmingemas Mazo teātri
Dibināts 2018. gadā Anglijas vidienē un tiecas pēc augstvērtīgiem mākslinieciskajiem sasniegumiem un rūpējas par katra dalībnieka personīgo izaugsmi. Izrādes tiek spēlētas latviešu valodā, nodrošinot arī tiešraides tulkojumu angļu valodā austiņās, tādējādi padarot teātri pieejamu plašākai starptautiskai auditorijai. Teātris ir pagodināts nest izcilās latviešu teātra zinātnieces Līvijas Akurāteres vārdu.

Savā pastāvēšanas laikā teātris ir iestudējis dažādas izrādes, no kurām nozīmīgākās ir: Slavomira Mrožeka Atklātā jūrā, Hermaņa Paukša Čir, čir!; Aiz durvīm, kas tapusi pēc Ž. P. Sartra darbu motīviem un Maika Fulstopa Arlabunakti!
Birmingemas Mazais teātris regulāri rīko atvērtas meistarklases, piedalās teātra festivālos Apvienotajā Karalistē, Latvijā un citviet pasaulē, kā arī uztur ciešas sadarbības saites ar līdzīgi domājošiem teātriem un kultūras organizācijām.
Birmingemas Mazais teātris ir Latviešu teātru apvienības Lielbritānijā un Pasaules Latviešu Amatieru Teātru savienības (PLATS) dibinātājs, kā arī National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) Lielbritānijā biedrs.

Lugas autors Slavomirs Mrožeks (1930–2013) – ievērojams poļu rakstnieks, pazīstams kā viens no absurda teātra pārstāvjiem.
Pirmizrāde 2019. gada 10. jūlijā Birmingemā (Lielbritānija); atjaunotās izrādes pirmizrāde 2023. gada 7. oktobrī Bergenā (Norvēģija).
Atklātā jūrā ir absurda komēdija, kur trīs izsalkuši džentlmeņi atrodas jūrā uz plosta. Pēc vairākām jautrām manipulācijām tikai demokrātija var palīdzēt viņiem izlemt – kurš būs nākamā maltīte. Izbaudiet enerģisku, nežēlīgu un jautru civilizācijas galu!
Režisors izrādē izmanto bagātīgus teātra elementus, koncentrējoties uz netradicionālu scenogrāfiju un plašu teātra valodu.

Rodžera pagātne atgriežas viņa namā – pirmās sievas ēna, mīļākās noslēpumi un sievas tumšā patiesība. Vai iespējams noskaidrot, kas patiesībā ir dzīvs, kas miris un kas tikai ilūzija? Un vai šī nakts atklās patiesību, vai tikai vēl dziļāk ievilks Rodžeru maldu lokā?

About Birmingham Little Theatre
Founded in 2018 in the Midlands of England, Birmingham Little Theatre strives for high artistic achievement while nurturing the personal growth of each of its members. Performances are presented in Latvian, with live English translation available through headphones, making the theatre accessible to a wider international audience. The theatre is honoured to bear the name of the distinguished Latvian theatre scholar Līvija Akurātere.

During its existence, the theatre has staged a variety of productions, the most notable of which include Sławomir Mrożek’s Out at Sea, Hermanis Paukšs’ Chirp, Chirp!, Behind Closed Doors, inspired by the works of Jean-Paul Sartre, and Mike Fullstop’s Goodnight!
Birmingham Little Theatre regularly organises open masterclasses, participates in theatre festivals in the United Kingdom, Latvia and elsewhere around the world, and maintains close collaborative relationships with like-minded theatres and cultural organisations.
Birmingham Little Theatre is a founding member of the Association of Latvian Theatres in Great Britain and the World Federation of Latvian Amateur Theatres (PLATS), as well as a member of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) in the United Kingdom.
About the production – Sławomir Mrożek’s Out at Sea

The playwright Sławomir Mrożek (1930–2013) was a prominent Polish writer, known as one of the leading representatives of the Theatre of the Absurd.
Premiere: 10 July 2019 in Birmingham, United Kingdom; premiere of the revived production: 7 October 2023 in Bergen, Norway.
Out at Sea is an absurdist comedy in which three hungry gentlemen find themselves adrift at sea on a raft. After a series of amusing manipulations, only democracy can help them decide who will become the next meal. Enjoy an energetic, ruthless and hilarious end to civilisation!
The director employs a rich range of theatrical elements, focusing on unconventional scenography and an expansive theatrical language.

Goodnight! is a philosophical drama with a mystical atmosphere, in which the living and the dead become entangled in the course of a single night’s conversation. Roger’s past returns to his home – the shadow of his first wife, his lover’s secrets, and his wife’s dark truth. Is it possible to discover who is truly alive, who is dead, and who is merely an illusion? And will this night reveal the truth, or draw Roger even deeper into a maze of deception?
