75 gadi!
Tik ilgi Sidnejas Latviešu teātris ir uzturējis dzīvu latviešu valodu, kultūru un teātra garu Austrālijā. Kopš dibināšanas 1951. gadā tas ir pulcējis aktierus, režisorus, sapņotājus, skatītājus un visus tos, kuri tic, ka laba izrāde var gan likt smieties, gan aizkustināt līdz asarām.
Un šādu jubileju noteikti vajag svinēt!
Kāpēc nākt tikai uz vakaru, ja var baudīt veselu svētku dienu?

Sydney Latvian Theatre’s 75th Anniversary Celebration

75 years!
For 75 years, Sydney Latvian Theatre has kept the Latvian language, culture and spirit of theatre alive in Australia. Since its founding in 1951, it has brought together actors, directors, dreamers, audiences and everyone who believes that a good performance can make you laugh and move you to tears.
And an anniversary like this definitely deserves to be celebrated!
Why come just for the evening when you can enjoy a whole day of festivities?
The day at the Latvian House promises to be full of interesting events. During the day, you can browse the Baltic Market, stop by the café, meet friends, enjoy some delicious food and cast your vote in the Latvian parliamentary elections.
From 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm, don’t miss a special opportunity to meet Vija Spoģe-Erdmane, who will offer an illustrated talk taking you behind the scenes of theatre set design. Naturally, there will be stories about the sets she has created for Sydney Latvian Theatre over many years, but it will be much more than just a story about scenery. It will be a glimpse into the magic of theatre.
And then… dinner!
From 5.00 pm, the café will be open again.
What will be on the menu? Perhaps the legendary Komm morgen wieder meat pancakes, bukstiņputra, potato salad, herring under a fur coat, or meatball soup?
One thing we know for certain: there will be anniversary cakes! What kind? That will remain a little surprise.
At 6.00 pm, the Colourful Cabaret begins!
Make yourself comfortable, raise a glass to 75 years of theatre and enjoy an evening in which the laughs will follow one another like perfectly timed comedy sketches.
Taking the stage will be all 11 PLATS theatre ensembles: Birmingham, Ireland, London, Bergen, Munich, Italy, Denmark, New Jersey, Melbourne, Switzerland and, of course, Sydney.
The evening will be hosted by the charismatic and well-known Edgars Greste, and the sketches will be followed by the legendary PLATS auction.
Those who already know the auction know that absolutely anything can happen. Each theatre tries to find something witty, unexpected and sometimes completely outrageous to surprise the audience. Laughter guaranteed! The auction will be conducted by actors from the Jelgava Student Theatre, who have honed this particular art to perfection.
Simply put… It will be a day featuring: a market, an exhibition and stories, elections, dinner, anniversary cakes, performances by 11 theatres, laughter, an auction, friends and great company.
Of course, you can come just for the anniversary celebration at 6.00 pm.
But why miss the opportunity to spend more time in a place where Latvian culture, friends, theatre, humour and a festive atmosphere all come together?
