Minhenes latviešu teātris Brecelis pošas uz Austrāliju
Dažkārt ceļš līdz mēģinājumam ir tikpat iespaidīgs kā ceļš līdz skatuvei. Tā kā Minhenes letiņu amatierteātra Brecelis dalībnieki dzīvo dažādos Vācijas reģionos un pat Austrijā, katra kopīgā tikšanās daudziem nozīmē mērot simtiem kilometru. Taču, ja ir īsta vēlme spēlēt, attālums nav šķērslis – tas tikai pierāda kolektīva lielo mīlestību pret teātri un latviskās kultūras uzturēšanu.
Teātris dibināts 2023. gada pavasarī Bavārijas sirdī. Tā vadītāja un režisore Diāna Zavele ap sevi pulcējusi aizrautīgus domubiedrus, kuri ar lielu atdevi un enerģiju veido spilgtus iestudējumus.
Lai arī teātris ir salīdzinoši jauns, tā izrādes jau satikušas skatītājus un guvušas siltu atsaucību starptautiskajos diasporas teātru saietos Norvēģijā, Lielbritānijā, Zviedrijā, Dānijā, Latvijā un Vācijā. Arī viesojušies Itālijā, pašā Romā.
Kolektīva sniegums guvis arī augstu nozares ekspertu novērtējumus diasporas teātru saietos PLATS SOLIS Norvēģijā, Zviedrijā un Lielbritānijā. Izrādes ir tikušas izvirzītas nominācijām par aktierspēli, muzikālo noformējumu un scenogrāfiju. Savukārt izrāde Siltumnīca (autore Anita Grīniece) ieguva ekspertu balvu par labākajiem tērpiem (Diāna Zavele).
Kā aktīvs Pasaules latviešu amatieru teātru savienības (PLATS) biedrs, Brecelis rūpējas par latviskās teātra mākslas saglabāšanu Eiropā, un šoreiz ar lielu uztraukumu un atvērtu sirdi pošas tālajā ceļā pāri okeānam, lai pirmo reizi klātienē satiktu skatītājus Austrālijā.

Kas notiek, ja botānikas skolotāja Zita finansiālu apsvērumu dēļ naktīs piestrādā par būvlaukuma sargu un viņas modrību nolemj pārbaudīt negaidīts nakts viesis? Situāciju vēl vētraināku un neparedzamāku padara viņas draudzene, franču valodas skolotāja Lenora, kura garāmejot pamanās iekļūt negaidītā notikumu virpulī…
Kas patiesībā ir šis noslēpumainais vīrietis būvlaukumā? Un cik tālu divas draudzenes būs gatavas iet, lai izglābtu savu reputāciju šajā pavasara naktī? Tā ir dzirkstoša situāciju komēdija par neticamām lomu maiņām – plāna robeža starp pārpratumu un sapratni, starp noziegumu un cilvēcību.
Izrāde jau iepriekš guvusi skatītāju sajūsmu un saņēmusi augstu ekspertu novērtējumu. Diasporas teātru saietā PLATS SOLIS Stokholmā (Zviedrijā) iestudējums saņēma atzinības rakstu „Par psiholoģisko un sadzīves asprātīgu konkrētību”, kā arī tika nominēts kategorijās par labāko aktierspēli (Kārlis Jurjāns par Māra lomu), labāko scenogrāfiju un labāko muzikālo noformējumu.
Šim iestudējumam ir unikāls, starptautisks vēriens; tā atjaunotā versija tapusi, Minhenes teātrim Brecelis sadarbojoties ar aktrisi Sandru Øgrey no Stavangeres Latviešu teātra studijas (Norvēģija), kā arī ar Radio Skonto (Latvija) atbalstu audio ieraksta tapšanā. Ļoti īpaša silta saikne ar mājiniekiem – tās gaismas režisors ir vietējais Melburnas latvietis Jānis Kārkliņš.

Munich Latvian Theatre Brecelis Heads to Australia
Sometimes the journey to a rehearsal is just as impressive as the journey to the stage. Because the members of Munich’s Latvian amateur theatre Brecelis live in different regions of Germany and even in Austria, every get-together means travelling hundreds of kilometres for many of them. But when there is a genuine desire to perform, distance is no obstacle – it simply proves the company’s great love of theatre and its dedication to preserving Latvian culture.
The theatre was founded in the spring of 2023 in the heart of Bavaria. Its artistic director and director, Diāna Zavele, has brought together a group of passionate like-minded people who create vibrant productions with tremendous commitment and energy.
Although the theatre is relatively young, its productions have already reached audiences and received a warm response at international Latvian diaspora theatre gatherings in Norway, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia and Germany. The company has also performed in Italy, including in Rome itself.
The company’s work has also received high praise from industry experts at the PLATS SOLIS diaspora theatre festivals in Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Its productions have been nominated for acting, musical design and set design awards. The production The Greenhouse (Siltumnīca) by Anita Grīniece received the expert award for Best Costumes, designed by Diāna Zavele.
As an active member of the World Federation of Latvian Amateur Theatres (PLATS), Brecelis works to preserve Latvian theatre in Europe and is now setting off, with great excitement and open hearts, on the long journey across the ocean to meet audiences in Australia in person for the very first time.

Brecelis is bringing Ārija Cine’s comedy The Plank (Dēlis) to Australia. This will be a special evening, as the production reaches audiences in a newly revised and expanded version, filled with sparkling humour!
What happens when Zita, a botany teacher, takes a night job as a construction-site security guard for financial reasons, only to have her vigilance tested by an unexpected nocturnal visitor? The situation becomes even more turbulent and unpredictable when her friend Lenora, a French teacher, happens to pass by and suddenly finds herself swept into an unexpected whirlwind of events…
Who is the mysterious man at the construction site really? And how far will the two friends be prepared to go to save their reputations on this spring night? It is a sparkling comedy of situations and unbelievable role reversals – a fine line between misunderstanding and understanding, between crime and humanity.
The production has already delighted audiences and received high praise from experts. At the PLATS SOLIS diaspora theatre festival in Stockholm, Sweden, the production received a commendation “For witty psychological and everyday-life precision”, and was also nominated in the categories of Best Acting (Kārlis Jurjāns for the role of Māris), Best Set Design and Best Musical Design.
This production has a unique international dimension. Its revised version was created through collaboration between Munich’s Brecelis theatre and actress Sandra Øgrey from the Stavanger Latvian Theatre Studio in Norway, with support from Radio Skonto in Latvia in producing the audio recording. There is also a particularly warm connection with the local community: the lighting director is Melbourne Latvian Jānis Kārkliņš.
